Students as a flexible workforce
Students working at T-Mobile Shops
StudentenWerk employment agency is the market leader in The Netherlands in terms of recruitment and employment of students. Every year, Studentenwerk puts thousands of Bachelor and Master students, as well as those engaging in Intermediate Vocational Education, in touch with companies where they are given the opportunity to gain relevant work experience.
StudentenWerk has more than 450,000 registered students (56% of all students in The Netherlands are registered at StudentenWerk).
Students constitute a target group that has proven to be excellent shop advisors and hostesses. They are bright, learn quickly and are aware of new developments in the world of telecommunications. The devotion of students gives T-Mobile more flexibility on FTE scheduling and they are mostly planned to work during rush hours in the shops. They are also often commercially and technically-minded, as well as loyal and willing to commit to an organization for a longer period of time (3 to 4 years). Thanks to StudentenWerk, young talent can be identified by organizations at an early stage.
Students giving advice to customers
In October 2008, StudentenWerk started a recruitment campaign for the T-Mobile shops. Nine selection days took place throughout the country. These days were organized both at T-Mobile and StudentenWerk locations. Extensive introduction courses about the T-Mobile organization and 1-on-1 job interviews were held. As a result of this approach, more than 87 part-time shop advisors and hostesses could be hired by T-Mobile in a short period of time.
